First Avaya Asia Pacific Partner Conference since Acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions attracts 600 Participants

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27, SYDNEY – Avaya, the leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, today announced that it will be hosting its Avaya Asia Pacific Partner Conference 2010 from 27 to 28 January in Beijing, China. This will be the company’s first major channel partner summit since it finalized its acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions in December 2009. The event is expected to be a tremendous success with 600 channel partners in attendance. This represents a 50 percent increase in attendance over the same event held a year ago. The theme this year is ‘In it to Win’ as Avaya starts a new chapter as a larger and stronger company in 2010.

The event also marks the first time that newly appointed head for Asia Pacific, Francois Lancon, Vice President of Avaya Asia Pacific, will address an assembly of regional channel partners. Lancon will be discussing the company’s direction in 2010 and beyond, focusing on the integration activities following the Nortel acquisition, channel development, and the growth strategies of the company and its channel partners.

“We are starting 2010 in a very strong position following the final step in the merger of Avaya with Nortel Enterprise Solutions. A key ingredient to our success, and one that has been shared by both companies over the years, is the dedication of our channel partners in Asia Pacific. Today, Avaya is stronger than ever before and with the renewed confidence of our extended family, our channel partners in this region, we are only looking at greater things to come,” said Lancon.

The two-day event will provide channel partners with the opportunity to experience the latest technologies from Avaya and discuss their relevance to Asia Pacific markets. Avaya will be showcasing its breakthrough communications architecture, Avaya Aura™, which was launched last year. The company will also discuss its recently announced joint product roadmap and how it will provide channel partners with the tools to sell successfully.

The conference also presents Avaya with an opportunity to reward its best-performing channel partners in 2009. An award ceremony will take place on January 28 to recognize the channel partners that have provided outstanding support and dedication to the company in the past year.

Chee Heng Loon, Avaya Director of Channels said, “Avaya is continuing its investment in a channel-centric, go-to-market model. This model was launched last year and continues to gain in value for our partners. At this event, we are preparing to unveil a new global channel program, Avaya Connect that offers significant benefits to our partners. Avaya will share details of this program effective February 2010.”
