CA Announced as Principal Naming Rights Partner to the CA Brumbies in Rugby Union’s Longest Running Sponsorship

Canberra, 21 January 2010 – CA has today announced it has reaffirmed its commitment to Canberra-based rugby union team, the CA Brumbies by signing on for two seasons taking it to a 12th year as the club’s principal naming-rights sponsor.

Brenton Smith, Vice President and Area Manager for CA Pacific said that the decision to return to the front of the jersey was an easy one.

“CA has supported the Brumbies for so long that to some extent we’ve become ingrained in one another’s business. Canberra has always been an important market for CA and our success, coupled with our partnership with the Brumbies, has made us a household name in the ACT.”

Involved with the club since 1996, the CA and Brumbies brands are synonymous in Super 14 rugby. Yet another two years of sponsorship will mean the ability to develop and enhance the CA Brumbies’ football program.

Brumbies Rugby CEO Andrew Fagan said that the partnership with CA has proven itself over the years.

“CA has been a great supporter of our team and has stuck with us through thick and thin. We’re very proud that CA has agreed to continue this relationship; one which we firmly believe is one of the greatest in Australian sporting history.”

“After 15 years, our affiliation with CA has extended well past the typical sponsor/football club relationship; many of their staff are close friends of the organisation and some of our most parochial members.”

Brenton Smith continued: “At CA, we love our rugby and the team’s success at the weekend very much translates into the workplace on a Monday. The Brumbies team this year has high proportion of Wallabies and I’m confident that the 2010/2011 season is the year to prove that a team of champions can be a champion team. CA will be behind them every step of the way.”

Off the field, CA’s commitment to communities in the ACT and Southern NSW extends well beyond their partnership with Brumbies Rugby, with the global company supporting non-profit organisations and educational institutions that add to the well being of the local area. With the CA Brumbies’ promise to empower children to succeed, CA's philanthropic initiatives focus on confidence-building activities for children and in the past has seen the organisation donate money, hours and technology solutions through various initiatives worldwide including OzHarvest and the University of Canberra.

The CA Brumbies play two pre-season matches against the Hurricanes in New Zealand’s Porirua (Friday, 29 January) and the Waratahs at Viking Park on Thursday, 4 February before kicking off the Investec Bank Super 14 against the Western Force in Perth on Friday, 12 February. A full schedule of games can be found on the CA Brumbies site here.
