New EPSON high speed 2400dpi entry level scanners

EPSON Australia today launched the EPSON PERFECTION 2480 PHOTO and EPSON PERFECTION 2580 PHOTO high-speed scanners for home users seeking higher resolution and easy scanning of 35mm film from an entry-level scanner

With a resolution of 2400 dpi the PERFECTION 2480 PHOTO and PERFECTION 2580 PHOTO deliver outstanding performance, superior to other scanners in their price range. Both scanners use a MatrixCCD and a revolutionary new Micro-Lens. The MatrixCCD makes it possible to increase the scanner resolution without increasing the size of the carriage.

The PERFECTION 2580 PHOTO incorporates an auto 35mm film loader instead of a transparency unit (TPU), giving users easy hassle-free scanning of 35mm stripfilm. With its auto film loader the PERFECTION 2580 PHOTO is perfect for users who need to digitise many 35mm transparencies.

The PERFECTION 2480 features a built in 35mm TPU for scanning film negatives and slides. Its lid-type TPU supports six frame stripfilm and two mounted slides.

Both scanners include a USB2.0 Hi-Speed interface, to ensure full compatibility with PCs,plus an onboard ASIC chip to ensure faster processing of scans.

The EPSON Scan software includes a colour restoration function that can substantially restore the colour in faded photos. This software now also includes a new black and white photo restoration function to bring old monochrome photos to life again.

The EPSON Scan software interface also includes a dust removal function, which automatically minimises dust from film and negatives.

The new EPSON copy utility simplifies the copying of both photos and documents.

Software included with the scanners includes ArcSoft PhotoImpressionTM 5; for enhancing and printing, ABBYY FineReader 5 Sprint; for transforming paper documents into editable computer files, and NewSoft Presto! BizCard 4 LE, to convert business cards into a portable electronic database.

The EPSON PERFECTION 2480 PHOTO is priced at $299 (RRP inc GST) and the EPSON PERFECTION 2580 PHOTO is priced at $349 (RRP inc GST) and available now through EPSON retailers. For full product specifications on this and other EPSON scanners please refer to
