Crestron Alexa skill launches in Australia
Crestron home automation systems are not limited to basic functions such as control of temperature and lighting, but also extend to motorised shades, whole-home audio, home theatre, video distribution, security and much more. Now with the Crestron Alexa skill available locally, Australian homeowners can interact with the Crestron technology in their residences through voice command, with the system able to identify specific nuance customisations.
Amazon Alexa, in-sync with Crestron, connects with Alexa Voice Service – allowing your wish to become a command. Just ask, ”Alexa, turn on/off the kitchen light” or “Alexa, raise the family room temperature by two degrees” and the system will adjust accordingly. You can also control multiple devices concurrently through convenient pre-set scenes, now with a simple voice command. As the day begins, simply say: “Alexa, tell Crestron to activate Morning Theme,” for the blinds to slowly open and lights to switch on, with a warm shower running and waiting for you to start your day. If you want to set the mood for an intimate dinner simply say: “Alexa, tell Crestron to activate Intimate Dinner,” for the dining room lights to dim instantly, shades to adjust slightly and soothing music to play from your speakers. It’s your home, responding to your voice.

With Crestron Pyng, which makes it simpler and quicker to set up and control your Crestron smart home from your mobile device, Crestron partners can connect Alexa to home systems without any programming. All that’s required is to follow some simple configuration steps. Once connected, Amazon Alexa automatically recognises rooms and scene names from Crestron Pyng for immediate voice control. The strength of the Amazon Alexa collaboration allows Crestron to offer a market leading level of voice control integrated with end-to-end home automation.
From today, Crestron-partnered system integrators and resellers in Australia can leverage the Crestron Alexa skill to enable voice controlled scenes and settings in Crestron environments, that are fully customised to their clients’ lifestyles.
