Acronis Builds Cloud Momentum and Expands Choice of Datacentre Locations

Acronis®, the global leader in new generation data protection, today announced the availability of Acronis Backup as a Service version 3. Acronis Backup as a Service delivers high value data protection capabilities that create new revenue streams for partners without a large upfront investment.

Powered by the Acronis AnyData Engine, Acronis Backup as a Service provides unparalleled deployment flexibility, including a turnkey solution for service providers hosted in Acronis datacentres, a hybrid offer with Acronis hosted management console leveraging service providers’ local storage, and a complete service provider hosted and managed deployment.

Service providers as well as key distributors have adopted Acronis Backup as a Service to expand their service portfolio to include backup and recovery in order to create new revenue streams without large upfront investments. The service is easy to adopt, provides a pay-for-use model and provides complete protection that customers require, including support for workstations, Windows, Linux, physical and virtual servers. Underscoring the growing trend of distributors building their businesses by provisioning cloud services, such market players are now delivering Acronis Backup as a Service through their Cloud Services Division.

Acronis Backup as a Service is a multi-tier / multi-tenant solution, providing local and hybrid storage of backed up data, local backup on customer premise, and local recovery plus recovery from cloud. The service provides advanced security, including SSL encryption of management channels and in-transit and at-rest AES256 data encryption. Acronis has provided reliable cloud backup since 2010, and recently opened data centres in Germany and Japan to complement those in place in United States, France, Russia and Singapore in order to support international cloud business growth.

“Opportunities abound for service providers, including backup, secure file access and sharing and disaster-recovery solutions,” said Serguei Beloussov, CEO and co-founder of Acronis. “Acronis Backup as a Service gives them the ability to offer advanced data protection to their customers with an easily managed and monitored high-margin service that delivers security and scalability.”
