Axis introduces high-performance, four-channel video encoder blade with H.264 and audio

Melbourne, Australia – 16th March 2011: Axis Communications introduces a new video encoder blade supporting high performance H.264 with true multi-streaming and two-way audio support on each channel, allowing operators to communicate with visitors. The new video encoder enables analog cameras to be integrated into a more powerful IP-based video surveillance system.

“The new video encoder blade brings the benefits of intelligent network video and audio to existing and new analog systems” says Wai King Wong, Country Manager ANZ, Axis Communications. “With the new blade Axis offers the market’s most comprehensive set of network capabilities, optimising the network video solution for security, efficiency and manageability.”

The video encoder blade, which supports all types of analog video cameras, converts analog signals into digital streams that are subsequently sent over IP networks for viewing and recording on networked computers. AXIS Q7414 supports high performance H.264, with true multi-streaming from each channel. It has four analog video channels as well as four bi-directional audio channels and can provide multiple, individually configurable video streams from each channel at full frame rate in all resolutions. The built-in power source with adjustable input gain simplifies the installation of balanced microphones.

The new blade fits perfectly into the AXIS 291 1U Video Server Rack and AXIS Q7900 Rack, which is a high-density rack solution with support for up to 84 analog cameras.

The AXIS Q7414 includes intelligent capabilities such as enhanced video motion detection and active tampering alarm as well as pan, tilt, zoom support on each individual channel. The video encoder blade is supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the industry’s largest base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner Program.

Availability The AXIS Q7414 will be available in Q2 2011 via Axis’ Australia distributors with pricing to be advised upon application
