Channel Asia Innovation Awards: and the winners are…

More than 700 tech executives tuned in for virtual experience honouring ecosystem success across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar #StateOfInnovation

Channel Asia is proud to announce winners of the Innovation Awards in 2020, featuring a leading and diverse line-up of partners, vendors, distributors and individuals across Southeast Asia.

Unveiled via State of Innovation, highlights of a challenging and turbulent 12 months were played out on the grandest virtual stage, in front of more than 700 technology executives ASEAN-wide.

The second running of the awards set the stage for three Channel Asia Hall of Fame inductees; Bill Chang, Mark Tan and Eric Goh.

Reflective of IDG’s increasing commitment to the region, the awards honoured outstanding work through customer value and innovation, with a record-breaking 332 nominations submitted across seven countries. In total, more than 90 organisations were represented across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar, in addition to regional success at ASEAN, Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific levels.

More than 45 partners made the finalist shortlist in 2020, spanning value-added resellers, system integrators and managed service providers, in addition to consultancy firms, cloud specialists and independent software vendors. Completing the finalist line-up, over 35 vendor organisations were also in the running, as well as more than 10 distributors.

Overall, the awards celebrated the channel across seven categories - Partner Value; Emerging Tech; Vendor Value; Distributor Value; Personal Innovation; Channel Choice and Hall of Fame.

Finalists were chosen by an IDG shortlist committee and then assessed by a hand-picked judging panel, comprising of the leading executives at partner, vendor and distributor levels across ASEAN.

All awards were judged through the lens of value - spanning customer, partner and channel - and unveiled during State of Innovation, an exclusive virtual experience for business technology leaders across Southeast Asia, built on the foundations of education, recognition and advancement. WINNER: Tata Consultancy Services

Tata Consultancy Services wins this award for shaping the IT strategies of leading enterprise customers in the Philippines, leveraging SAP technologies to drive transformation agendas at Manila Water, Globe Telecom and Ayala Land Incorporated. Spearheaded by almost 5000 employees across Metro Manila and Pampanga, TCS assumed a lead role in building out technology roadmaps across multiple industry sectors, delivering advisory services to help streamline operations, enhance customer experience levels and optimise critical business processes.


WINNER: Logicalis

Logicalis wins this award for helping mid-market customers navigate the stormy waters of Covid-19 in Singapore through the delivery of end-to-end customised IT solutions, from conceptualisation to implementation and support. In response to the pandemic, Logicalis stepped up to help end-users adopt collaboration platforms amid a sharp rise in remote working, alongside strengthening IT infrastructure and cyber protection capabilities through managed security services, backed by 24x7 SOC and NOC support.



AsiaPac wins this award for assuming the role of trusted technology advisor for Fei Yue Community Service Centre - a not-for-profit voluntary welfare organisation in Singapore. Delivered via a market-leading managed services portfolio, AsiaPac helped Fei Yue overcome the challenges of escalating cost centres - spanning hardware, software, services and maintenance - to manage multiple site locations from device deployments to application roll-outs.

WINNER: Accenture

Accenture wins this award for maximising the launch of a Google Cloud region in Jakarta to help enterprise customers deliver superior customer experience levels while accelerating digital transformation plans via the cloud in Indonesia. Underpinned by Customer Data Architecture (CDA), Accenture partnered with Google Cloud to enable real-time, audience centric marketing and personalisation within the local media industry, leveraging integrated customer data to reduce media spend wastage and enhance user journey insights.


Smart Technology

WINNER: AvePoint

AvePoint wins this award for creating a digital exam delivery system for Republic Polytechnic built on Microsoft technologies, allowing more than 16,000 students and staff to quickly adapt to remote learning during the pandemic in Singapore. The integrated platform enables automatic student identity recognition, incorporates anti-cheat artificial intelligence facial technology and intelligent marking to minimise manual errors, leveraging SharePoint, Word Online, ASP.NET Core, Windows Identity Foundation and Windows Crypto solutions.


Digital Transformation

WINNER: Telstra Purple

Telstra Purple wins this award for building a modern workplace to support the secure collaboration demands of 6000 field agents for the Singapore arm of a global insurance company, migrating 13,000 archived mailboxes from Google G Vault to Office 365 Archive in the process. Supported by unique IP consisting of developed scripts in Python and PowerShell, Telstra Purple delivered advanced services in Office 365 Power Platform to build a business application to automate meeting room bookings within corporate offices, as well as streamlining remote application deployments on user devices.

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Blazeclan Technologies / NTT



NTT wins this award for strengthening the cyber security posture of a global insurance company to provide a standardised service across the core markets of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand in Southeast Asia. Overcoming fragmented IT service and security governance challenges - which vary by market - NTT deployed managed security services at country and regional levels to secure current infrastructure and systems, while providing predictive threat intelligent analytics and data to facilitate remote working and bolster business continuity resiliency.

Channel Excellence (Country)

WINNER: Vincent Lee, Dell Technologies

Vincent wins this award for spearheading Commercial and Enterprise market segments for Dell Technologies in Singapore, activating the channel to accelerate change and drive transformation strategies. During the past 12 months, Vincent delivered six per cent growth in channel revenue and 15 per cent in distributor revenue within the city-state, adding almost 1400 new and reactivated customers while increasing partner rebates due to strong market expansion.

Technical Excellence (Country)

WINNER: Chin Lam Toh, Logicalis

Chin Lam wins this award for developing Logicalis RENx, a suite of solutions designed to address the underlying challenges of a successful digital transformation, primarily a lack of network visibility and insights. Conceptualised and built during a nine-month period, Singapore-based Chin Lam leveraged Cisco technologies to create a dashboard (VISION) to provide enhanced network visibility and insights to customers, capable of also overcoming security and automation roadblocks.

Management Excellence (Country)

WINNER: Vivian Chua, HP

Vivian wins this award for consistently championing innovative ideas to deliver support and innovation for partners, employees and communities across Singapore and Malaysia. During circuit breaker and quarantine periods, Vivian pivoted the business to embrace online as partners worked to fulfil increased customer demand, backed by spearheading financial relief packages to the channel while donating over 3000 PCs and printers and 6000 face mask adjusters to frontline workers.

Marketing Excellence (Country)

WINNER: Pattira Theptanawatana, Cisco

Pattira wins this award for launching ‘The Alpha’, a strategic marketing campaign created to profile existing and prospective Cisco customers in Thailand, delivered via a podcast series garnering more than 600,000 views within two months. Designed to invite national CEOs to discuss wide-scale transformation in the digital age, the initiative ensured Cisco remained top of mind within the enterprise following media up-take via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, Podbean and Joox, setting the stage for ‘The Alpha C-Levels Community’ in the local market.

Sales Excellence (Country)

WINNER: Luke Lim, AvePoint

Luke wins this award for continually helping AvePoint break new ground in products, customers and markets, driving innovation from Singapore across Asia Pacific. As Chief Innovation Officer, Luke continues to dramatically increase sales revenue by developing, packaging and selling unique, proprietary solutions built on Microsoft technologies, increasing revenue by 30 per cent in the process.

Channel Excellence (Region)

WINNER: Patara Yongvanich, Rhipe

Patara wins this award for expanding Rhipe’s subscription-based cloud reach across the key markets of Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia in Southeast Asia, holding responsibility for vendor management, business planning, recruiting and sales activities. Under Patara’s leadership, Rhipe’s licensing team closed FY20 with $69 million in annual sales, representing 47 per cent year-on-year growth while doubling Microsoft Azure bookings with CSP seats increasing by 265 per cent to more than $1 million.


Technical Excellence (Region)

WINNER: Hoang-Giang Tran, FPT Software

Giang wins this award for rising through the ranks at FPT Software in Vietnam, joining the business as a second-year student before advancing to lead the strategic planning and execution of enterprise blockchain platform akaChain. In managing more than 100 employees across seven countries in Asia, Giang founded akaChain to provide ready-made blockchain-backed solutions and make distributed ledger technology a reality for businesses, while also being hand-picked by the Vietnamese Government to help accelerate digital adoption across public and private sectors.

Management Excellence (Region)

WINNER: Sanjay Deshmukh, VMware

Sanjay wins this award for stepping up support to VMware customers navigating remote and distributed business environments, leading as a champion of channel partners at in-country levels across Southeast Asia. Under Sanjay’s leadership, local partners now hold the highest number of Master Competencies in Asia Pacific and Japan, and the second highest Solution Competency levels with more than 10,000 VMware certified professionals within the ecosystem.

Marketing Excellence (Region)

WINNER: Farah Darlina, Cisco

Farah wins this award for driving a customer-first, digital everywhere and country-centric approach to marketing, establishing a clear path to success for partners and distributors ASEAN-wide. Through such initiatives, Farah improved operational excellence in lead and funnel management with partners, receiving the highest sales opportunity to booking conversion (37 per cent) compared to industry benchmarks (30 per cent).
