Check Point has appointed Ingram Micro as a distributor in Singapore and Malaysia as the security vendor expands reach through the channel.
Terms of the agreement will see the distributor - recently crowned as Software Distributor of the Year at the Channel Asia Innovation Awards 2019 - gain access to a security portfolio spanning network, data, endpoint, cloud and mobile technologies.
“We are excited to enhance our security offering to our partners with the additional of Check Point to our portfolio,” said Francis Choo, vice president and chief country executive of ASEAN and Hong Kong at Ingram Micro. “The rise in hybrid data centre adoption and the exponential growth in mobile devices increase the importance for business to look into their security set-up and coverage.
“The combination of Check Point’s solutions and our aggregated security services and solutions - spanning consulting to delivery – will meet the needs and opportunities in the market.”
The appointment comes as global spending on security-related hardware, software and services is forecast to reach $103.1 billion in 2019, representing an increase of 9.4 per cent over 2018.
According to IDC findings, managed security services will represent the largest technology category with customers investing more than $21 billion for around-the-clock monitoring and management of security operations centres.
Next up is network security hardware, which includes unified threat management, firewalls and intrusion detection and prevention technologies. The third and fourth largest investment categories will be integration services and endpoint security software.
“We are pleased to appoint Ingram Micro as a Check Point distributor in Singapore and Malaysia,” added Evan Dumas, regional director of Southeast Asia, Check Point. “Our new relationship with Ingram Micro will enable us to reach out to various market segments and provide organisations of all sizes with innovative and effective security solutions that keep them protected even against the most advanced threats.”
As reported by Channel Asia, Ingram Micro recently promoted Diego Utge to the role of executive vice president and group president of Asia Pacific.
Based in India, Utge will commence his role as of 1 January and succeeds Mike Zilis who was promoted to the roles of executive vice president and chief financial officer.
