Maxis and Celcom Timur (CT Sabah) have unveiled plans to improve access to fibre connectivity in Sabah through the provision of high speed broadband network services.
Terms of the agreement will see Maxis gain “full access” to CT Sabah’s fibre optic network, enabling a direct link-up to offer high-speed broadband services to end-users, effective 1 November.
“At Maxis, we have a clear ambition to be Malaysia’s leading converged solutions company, and we have an important role to play in driving higher broadband adoption and have made significant investments in this area,” said Gokhan Ogut, CEO of Maxis.
“Our partnership with CT Sabah is another significant step forward for us in fulfilling our converged ambitions, and I would like to thank CT Sabah for helping us make this a reality, not just for Maxis, but for the people and businesses of Sabah as we look forward to rolling out our attractive fibre plans here to more homes and businesses.”
Leveraging CT Sabah’s infrastructure and services, Maxis will also have access to the latest hardware and software technology on a 24/7 network monitoring system.
Additionally, Maxis will leverage technical support staff to assist customers in managing network transmission, with a current average mean time to restore within two hours.
“As the leading infrastructure provider with the widest fibre optic network in Sabah and Labuan, we are committed to working closely with telcos to enable them to expand their coverage throughout the state,” added Nazaruddin Bin Abdul Rahim, CEO of CT Sabah.
“Our goal is to provide the platform upon which service providers can offer higher Internet speeds at attractive prices to consumers.
“In view of this, we are confident that our continued partnership with Maxis will be highly beneficial to fibre users in Sabah, where even more communities can look forward to the benefits of digital connectivity, and enjoy exciting value-added plans from Maxis.”
