ePLDT has launched managed IT services designed to avoid business downtime through enhanced enterprise IT infrastructure in the Philippines.

The Makati City-based technology provider is targeting customers at the top end of town through three core offerings, spanning managed operations centre-as-a-service (MOCaaS), professional services and managed IT platforms.

According to recent findings, almost 90 per cent of companies in the Philippines have experienced incidents of system downtime within the last 18 months.

The survey - PLDT Enterprise’s Connected Survey Report - also estimated that 43 per cent of hardware failures stemmed from mechanical or internal failure, while 36 per cent were due to lack of IT infrastructure maintenance.

“There is factual basis that no enterprise is exempt from risks of potential system downtime,” said Nerisse Ramos, senior vice president and COO, ePLDT. “This is what compelled us to establish our own managed IT services portfolio, which is hardened by the most advanced platforms and on-ground expertise as well as the group’s experience in critical infrastructure operations.”

Through MOCaaS, ePLDT will provide enterprise customers with “state-of-the-art technologies and skilled resources” to deliver critical IT support on a subscription basis, backed up by proactive monitoring and managed infrastructure services.

Specific to professional services, key offerings include IT infrastructure consulting, consulting across data privacy and data science, in addition to system integration and application development. The aim is to assist customers in various stages of deployment, including management, maintenance, development and support of network systems.

All services will be powered by ePLDT’s managed operations centre (MOC), the group’s command centre which will utilise new tools and global standard processes in IT service management.

“ePLDT’s holistic managed IT services seek to help mitigate downtime and ensure business continuity for all organisations in the country through an all-inclusive ecosystem complemented by the input of our highly skilled subject matter experts,” added Ronald De Guzman, head of business solutions, ePLDT.

Managed services represents the latest addition to ePLDT’s existing suite of ICT solutions, which also include purpose-built data centres, cloud and cyber security.

“We at ePLDT and PLDT Enterprise recognise the impact downtime has on the operations of our customers,” said Jovy Hernandez, president and CEO, ePLDT. “Through our managed IT services portfolio, it is our aim to provide enterprises with the resources that will allow them to focus on their core business.”

The launch comes more than two months after ePLDT unveiled plans to transform its first purpose-built data centre in the Philippines through a three-year agreement with Schneider Electric.

As reported by Channel Asia, the partnership centres on VITRO Pasig, billed as the “pioneer data centre of the group", which still operates on a daily basis since launching in 2000.

As the facility approaches the 20-year mark, ePLDT partnered with Schneider Electric to “holistically transform” the data centre through the addition of new and emerging technologies.

Specifically, the three-year transformation project will optimise VITRO Pasig’s support infrastructure facility in order to generate more power capacity, which will enable the facility to accommodate and host more application requirements from customers.
