Ingram Micro has signed a CloudBlue agreement with HGC Global Communications (HGC) as the Hong Kong-based internet service provider builds out marketplace capabilities.

Terms of the agreement will see the CloudBlue Commerce Platform - launched in May 2018 - power the HGC Marketplace, which was unveiled to the market in late July.

CloudBlue will serve as the "backbone" to HGC’s new “one-stop shop” online cloud marketplace, anchored by technologies from Microsoft, Dropbox and Symantec, in addition to DocuSign and Skykick.

The marketplace will offer customers - spanning corporate and enterprise - access to “multi-cloud anything-as-a-service” offerings, including Dropbox for Business, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft 365 and Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud products.

“Launching the HGC Marketplace is one of the major milestones in our digital transformation journey, as we are anticipating added momentum to growth through this endeavour,” said Cecilia Wong, executive vice president of Product and Innovations at HGC.

“We’re excited to see the positive and lasting impact the new HGC Marketplace will have on the customer experience and the growing adoption of cloud services by our customers.”

As revealed by Channel Asia, Ingram Micro unveiled the new independent software division 15 months ago, designed to help service providers build, scale and monetise cloud and digital services.

The practice sells CloudBlue commerce platform and services directly to service providers, including managed service providers, telecommunications providers, large value-added resellers and other distributors.

Built on Microsoft Azure, the CloudBlue platform operate separately from Ingram Micro Cloud, which remains focused on supporting Cloud Marketplace and helping channel partners distribute third-party cloud solutions.

“Whether a business is starting to embrace digital transformation or is well on its way, CloudBlue’s commerce platform and acceleration services are proven to fast-track our customers’ journeys and enable them to realise their goals faster and with greater return on investment,” said Lincoln Lincoln, vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan, CloudBlue.

“HGC Marketplace can simplify the sale and will allow HGC customers to purchase, consume and manage their cloud-based technology services online in one easy-to-access marketplace.”

Lincoln said CloudBlue is experiencing “rapid growth” in the market, acting as a “behind-the-scenes cloud operations hub” for more than 200 service providers globally.

Key new customers include Colt, Office Depot, T-Mobile and Zones, joining existing agreements in place with Telstra, StarHub and Telefonica among others.
