Alibaba Cloud has signed an agreement with the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS) to promote up-skilling programs and technology collaboration in the city-state.
Terms of the alliance will see both parties combine to offer trainings across core technologies of artificial intelligence (AI), big data and cloud. The aim is to maintain Singapore’s standing within the competitive meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry across Asia.
Currently, MICE visitors make up 15 per cent of arrivals in Singapore, representing 22 per cent of spending during the first half of 2018.
“Singapore's continued success as a business events and meetings destination is not just a product of the world-class infrastructure, connectivity and attractions,” said Aloysius Arlando, president of SACEOS and CEO of SingEx Holdings. “Our industry is relentless in our collaborations to provide world class and differentiated business events to make Singapore the Global Asia Node in the region.”
As part of the collaboration, Arlando said SACEOS members will examine the use of Alibaba Cloud data intelligence solutions, alongside exploring hosting training and workshops.
The vendor will also connect Singapore hospitality industries with the Alibaba ecosystem, in addition to "millions of potential Chinese customers to drive arrivals and spending".
“We are confident that this partnership will create even more opportunities for Singapore to stay ahead of the competition through adoption of leading technologies,” Arlando added.
As part of the agreement, Alibaba Cloud will also share its technology expertise in data intelligence to deliver "high-traffic events".
“As the global leader in data intelligence, we understand the opportunities technologies can create for MICE industry,” said Dr. Derek Wang, general manager of Singapore, Alibaba Cloud. “Our partnership with SACEOS is an extension of our partnership with hospitality and tourism sectors of Singapore as a whole.”
According to Dr Wang, key examples include Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions through AI, data visualisation, live video broadcasting and video-on-demand solutions.
“We will work closely with SACEOS and its members to demonstrate real world examples on how technology innovations can not only improve the industry's digital transformation, but also bottom lines as well,” Dr Wang added.
In August 2018, the vendor launched a dedicated partner program across ASEAN, designed to drive market growth through the channel.
Officially labelled ASEAN Partner Alliance Programme, the initiative aims to develop an ecosystem compromising of service providers, system integrators, independent software vendors (ISVs) and start-ups.
In addition to alliance vendors, the program aims to recruit 150 solution partners during the next 12 months, backed up by the training of 600 sales and technology personnel.
