FPT Corporation has unveiled plans to build out capabilities within the smart home market in Southeast Asia following a strategic investment in Homa Techs.
As the largest technology provider in Vietnam, the investment sees FPT join forces with a leading specialist in Internet of Things (IoT), networking and smart home and building devices.
The announcement was unveiled during the launch of Homa’s multi-protocol IoT Hubs, designed to securely integrate all smart devices in the house into IoT applications.
Up to 240 devices can be connected at the same time, spanning switches, smart plugs, light controllers and sensors, in addition to door bells, door locks with camera, mobile apps and home service software.
“FPT sees great value in Homa’s smart home technologies and solutions,” said Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT. “With a network of partners and clients spanning 45 countries and territories, we are excited to work with Homa to bring this family of products to millions of residents and help to accelerate the development of smart buildings and smart cities in Asia.
“Apart from our commitment to research and develop digital solutions, FPT also looks for partnership opportunities to acquire new technological products and solutions which are in line with emerging market trends and our long-term strategies.”
Khoa said the investment "reinforces FPT’s commitment" to become a provider of "comprehensive digital transformation services" during the next two years.
With this move, the provider also hopes to diversify its portfolio of hardware products that target smart cities developers and better penetrate Southeast Asia market for IoT and smart home solutions.
Khoa said that it is also likely that FPT could integrate Homa technologies into its IoT and artificial intelligence (AI) products in the future.
The investment comes less than a month after FPT Software signed an agreement with Airbus to become one of the first Skywise certified partners, tasked with driving digital collaboration across the global aviation industry.
As reported by Channel Asia, the subsidiary of Vietnam-headquartered FPT Corporation joins four other businesses as launch partners of the program, including Accenture, Capgemini, IBM and Sopra Steria.
Airbus’s selection criteria of certified partners include companies with global presence, familiarity with Skywise technology, high-quality human resources, existing business with airlines and existing business relationships with the European aircraft maker.
