Nutanix has appointed Avinash Gowda as country manager of Malaysia, tasked with driving strategy and growth with a specific focus on the large enterprise market.

With more than two decades of IT experience, Gowda brings an “extensive background” in enterprise sales, channel and operational strategy.

“We are delighted to have Avinash bring his focus, structure and direction to our cutting-edge solutions here in Malaysia,” said Lim Pun Kok, managing director of ASEAN at Nutanix. “Malaysia is an extremely important market for Nutanix. “The new government is introducing a series of open and progressive policies, to establish a more vibrant business environment.

“Meanwhile, enterprises are looking to next-generation technologies to refine and redefine their current IT infrastructure and processes to ensure competitive advantage. Ensuring we have the right calibre of leaders will be critical for our success. We have that with Avinash."

Prior to Nutanix, Gowda played an “instrumental role” in establishing and growing the Amazon Web Services (AWS) enterprise cloud business in Malaysia, driving business across major telcos, financial services, media and travel verticals.

Before AWS, he held a number of key roles at Microsoft Malaysia. As head of corporate accounts, he refocused the cloud business by transforming it from traditional legacy transactions to annuity revenue streams.

As partner strategy and programmes leader, Gowda also oversaw the channel cloud transformation and built new models, programmes and compensation metrics for the partner ecosystem.

“I am excited to be leading the Nutanix Malaysia team at this opportune time,” Gowda added. “There is no doubt the future for Malaysian enterprises is hybrid cloud. Nutanix is the clear leader in the space, with a track record of innovation and adding real customer value to match.

“As the country’s enterprises embrace the digital economy, Nutanix will be there to support them all the way.”

Gowda’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Malaysia. The government is looking to the digital economy to become the new driver of development, as it struggles with incentivising the adoption of digital technologies by the country’s businesses.

Furthermore, the announcement follows an increase in investment across ASEAN by Nutanix including the opening of a new Singapore-based regional headquarters and the appointment of a new Singapore managing director.
