A new dawn as Dimension Data becomes NTT

Tech giant comprises of NTT Communications, Dimension Data and NTT Security

NTT has officially launched to the world as a global technology giant housing the capabilities of 28 companies.

Headquartered in London, the $11 billion business will be spearheaded by Jason Goodall and comprises of NTT Communications, Dimension Data and NTT Security, employing around 40,000 staff in offices across more than 70 countries and regions.

Channel Asia can also confirm that John Lombard has been named as CEO of Asia Pacific. Effective 1 July, Lombard will be responsible for NTT’s global business in Asia Pacific, excluding Japan and Australia.

Lombard joined Dimension Data as the Asia Pacific CEO in May 2016, coming on-board from SAP, where he was senior vice president and head of services, responsible for services and support.

Prior to SAP, Lombard was CEO and managing director of Crowe Horwath Australasia, formerly WHK Group, which was Australia and New Zealand’s largest publicly listed integrated financial and business advisory company.

“I am very honoured and excited to take on this enlarged responsibility for the integrated NTT global business in Asia Pacific,” Lombard said. “There is a lot of work to be done over the next few months as we will be working to integrate a total of 28 companies into a world class technology services organisation.

“I am confident that the new integrated NTT family is stronger with expanded capabilities, unparalleled talent pool, and financial strength. This strength puts us in the prime position to become the industry leader, to help clients navigate complex market developments and find new opportunities in the Asia Pacific region.”

Globally speaking, the combined entity - unveiled to the market in August 2018 - will see the creation of a business serving over 10,000 customers, spanning financial services, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, energy and utilities, manufacturing, automotive and technology sectors.

Key customers include Tour de France, ALMA, City of Las Vegas, Connected Conservation, ISPPC, Alcatel and NXP.

According to Goodall - who was previously CEO of Dimension Data - the new-look business will provide technology and managed services at a global scale, complemented through local customisations specific to each market.

“Today NTT continues its 120-year heritage of always listening to and innovating for our clients,” added Tsunehisa Okuno, chairman of NTT. “Along with creating a very strong technology and managed services provider in NTT we have also increased our commitment to invest more in R&D, new technology startups through our venture capital fund, and developing our own disruptive innovation business team.

“We see the opportunity to help our clients and communities more effectively when we bring all of these capabilities together.”

The move signals the end of the Dimension Data brand which was first introduced to the market 36 years ago, following the creation of Dimension Data in 1983 and subsequent acquisitions of multiple local businesses across the world.
