VMware has appointed Tech Data as a distributor in Vietnam, offering channel partners access to the vendor’s entire portfolio of products.

The agreement spans VMware’s entire range of data centre, public cloud, digital workspace, networking and security solutions, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Suite, Horizon, Workspace One and VMware Cloud on AWS.

“Tech Data’s considerable technical capabilities and complimentary vendor portfolio makes them an excellent partner to deliver VMware solutions to the Vietnam region,” said Daniel Choo, country manager of Nascent and Vietnam, at VMware. “We look forward to working together with Tech Data to support and enable Vietnamese businesses in their digital transformation journey.”

From a technological perspective, the move is designed to leverage Tech Data’s end-to-end vendor portfolio, pairing the virtualisation and cloud capabilities of VMware with complementary solutions across data protection, storage, data centre and networking.

Furthermore, Tech Data’s sales accreditation services further enable partners to accelerate revenue opportunities across Vietnam.

“Tech Data and VMware are aligned in our strategic goal to drive digital transformation,” said Ms Tran Thi Bao Tran, country general manager of Vietnam, at Tech Data.

“Adding VMware to our portfolio in Vietnam enables us to deliver cloud and virtualisation solutions and services that accelerate our partners’ success and help their customers unlock the advantages of a modernised data centre

“With our innovative approach, experienced professionals, and training and enablement capabilities, we will support our partners to take their cloud and virtualisation businesses to the next level.”

The agreement further strengthens an existing partnership which stretches across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific regions.

In addition, the move follows the appointment of Uma Thana Balasingam as vice president of Partner Business across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) at VMware, as revealed by Channel Asia.

Effective March, Balasingam - who was recruited from Riverbed - is tasked with driving the vendor’s regional channel strategy, taking control of an ecosystem housing solution providers, distributors, OEMs and telecommunications partners.
