Autodesk has appointed IT veteran Paul Wilson as regional director of sales across ASEAN, based out of Singapore, responsible for strategic direction and overall profitability.

Wilson joins the software vendor with 25 years of IT sales, partner management, consulting and entrepreneurial experience across government, national security, healthcare and education industries in Asia Pacific (APAC).

“ASEAN is a diverse region that is experiencing high growth in various sectors,” said Wilson. “Industry 4.0 and developing smarter cities and infrastructure are at the top of the agenda for all countries and I am thrilled to be able to lead the ASEAN team at Autodesk to meet and exceed our customers' needs."

Before joining Autodesk, Wilson was the head of public sector sales across Southeast Asia for Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he led the sales, partner and solutions architect teams for AWS Public Sector across the region.

Wilson has also served in regional leadership positions at Microsoft, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Skylink Telecommunication and Accenture.

“Paul has extensive knowledge of the software industry and a strong track record of driving customer and business success in both emerging and mature markets across the region,” said Haresh Khoobchandani, vice president of Sales (Asia), Autodesk, who himself joined the software vendor in 2018.

“We are excited to welcome him to the team, and to work with him to drive the next phase of Autodesk's growth in Southeast Asia."

In 2018, distributor Tech Data launched Datech Portal across ASEAN, in a bid to support Autodesk authorised resellers drive regional subscription growth.

The roll-out was through Datech Solutions, a specialist business unit within Tech Data which provides value-added services to more than 400 Autodesk resellers worldwide, after officially landed regionally in January 2018.
