Andrés Ortola has been appointed as country general manager of Microsoft in the Philippines, tasked with digitally transforming local businesses through the channel.

As a 20 year IT veteran, prior to this role, Ortola was responsible for the vendor’s enterprise commercial business for the Singapore market.

“I believe Philippines is on the cusp of greatness,” said Ortola. “As we all know, the economy is among the fastest growing in Asia Pacific and our customers are hungry for transformation.

“I am looking forward to working with our team to deliver a strong and consistent agenda that contributes to the digitalisation of the Philippines economy, transforms our key industries and has a strong positive societal impact."

A Buenos Aires-native, Ortola has held various regional positions at Microsoft, Quest Software and IBM in consulting, sales, management, marketing and business management.

Ortola will report directly to Andrea Della Mattea, president, Microsoft Asia Pacific, who is based at the vendor’s regional headquarters in Singapore.

“I am thrilled to have Andrés lead one of our most dynamic, exciting and vibrant markets in Asia Pacific,” said Mattea. “His expertise and experience in creating growth opportunities and leading teams will be integral to support our customers and partners in the Philippines.”

Microsoft has seen rapid regional growth of its Azure platform over the past 12 months, and in late 2018, technology integrator, DXC Technology, opened an analytics migration factory in Manila, Philippines to help local customers who want to migrate to the Azure platform, to do so with relative ease.
