Asian Telco operators have a new partner in Danny Wong who was recently appointed senior director of Telecom for IT infrastructure provider Vertiv.
While Wong had previously been responsible for the Southeast Asian and North Asian markets, his remit will now include Australia and New Zealand.
“The future of telco here in Asia looks bright with innovations and emerging technology trends,” said Wong. “I am excited for what the future holds for the telco market and Vertiv is well-positioned to support operators from the core to edge.”
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he will assist regional telco operators in their digital transformation journey, leveraging the vendor’s capabilities across its edge computing, hybrid energy, and DC power solutions portfolio, as well as its business development programs and customer engagement initiatives to support each of the local market units in the region.
“Asia is one of the most dynamic and exciting markets for telecom in the world and is leading the way in innovation and technology adoption,” said Anand Sanghi, president, Asia and India, Vertiv.
“Mobile penetration continues to grow and is a major driver for social change. With innovations like 5G, internet of things (IoT) and edge computing, technology shifts are transforming the telco network from core to the edge.”
“Danny’s rich experience and his in-depth understanding of the intricacies of each market in the region will allow him to support telco operators with Vertiv solutions."
Before joining Vertiv as director of telecom in 2016, he was with Industrial automation vendor Emerson for eight years, most recently holding the position of director of telecom for Asia.
