Symantec honours leading APJ channel partners

Symantec has recognised its top performing partners across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), honouring 12 months of growth through the channel.

Unveiled during a regional awards ceremony in Thailand, the Symantec Partner Executive Summit recognised 21 APJ partners for driving business excellence, innovation and growth, delivering outstanding outcomes to customers during 2018.

Flying the Singapore flag were Singtel as Regional Partner of the Year and system integrator Accel Systems & Technologies as ASEAN Growth Partner of the Year.

The awards come amid a change of direction for the security vendor both globally and locally, with a new phase of growth set to be delivered through new appointments and acquisitions.

Most recently, Art Gilliland was appointed executive vice president of enterprise products, while Marc Andrews will continue in his role as senior vice president of worldwide sales with expanded responsibilities.

Furthermore, in November, the vendor announced the acquisition of privately held company, Appthority, which offers Mobile Application Security Analysis, which Symantec lacked.

This provides end-users with ability to analyse mobile apps for both malicious capabilities and unsafe and unwanted behaviours, such as vulnerabilities, risk of sensitive data loss, and privacy-invasive actions.

Symantec also recently expanded its cloud security portfolio, introducing additional protection for cloud infrastructure, such as new cloud workload assurance for security posture management, cloud workload protection (CWP) for storage with data loss prevention (DLP) and CloudSOC CASB support for custom cloud applications.

These new capabilities bolster infrastructure security and provide policy control over both the cloud data and control planes.

Of note to the channel, a managed cloud defence service was also introduced, enabling businesses to better secure their cloud journey and help to address staffing and resource challenges.
