VMware has appointed Fan Qu to head channel and alliances across Southeast Asia and Korea (SEAK), designed to deepen partner capabilities within the region.
Effective August, Qu will aim to advance the vendor’s virtual cloud network vision in a bid to capitalise on the region’s eagerness for digital transformation.
“Channel partners are central to the success of our business,” said Sanjay Deshmukh, vice president and managing director of SEAK at VMware. “With Fan leading our channel strategy, we are well-positioned.
"I have utmost faith that he will grow our partner ecosystem from strength to strength in the coming years."
Based out of Singapore, Qu brings more than a decade of experience to the role, having spent the best part of six years at IBM before joining VMware in 2013 as a senior partner business manager undertaking responsible for the vendor’s cloud services business among others.
“We see tremendous potential for our partners to monetise the cloud, and our priority is to strengthen their capabilities so they are best equipped to seize opportunities,” said Qu.
“We want to continue investing in our partners and enabling them to deliver the best-in-class services to our customers in the region.”
In his role, Qu will continue managing distributors, solution providers, OEMs, SISOs, VMware cloud providers and technology alliance partners for the SEAK region.
The vendor has undergone somewhat of a leadership change in 2018, with the appointment of Sanjay Deshmukh as vice president and general of the territory and Ron Goh now assuming the role of vice president and advisor.
While, effective in May, David Wakeman, senior director of end-user computing (EUC) across Asia Pacific and Japan succeeded Deshmukh as the new leader of the division.
