Vietnamese IT services provider FPT has entered into a global partnership with Carlsberg, providing information technology as well as digital transformation services.

The two organisations signed a global framework contract whereupon FPT officially become Carlsberg's technology partner.

"We are excited about entering into this partnership with FPT,” said Cees't Hart, CEO at Carlsberg Group. “Their support to help us digitise our breweries gets us closer to realising our sustainability goals as well as improving productivity."

Furthermore, both sides are looking to explore the best way forward to help Carlsberg digitally transform its business, including such initiatives as a smart brewery, cloud migration to Azure, open API platform, data strategy and analytics.

The initial partnership between FPT and Carlsberg came about in January 2018 were the service provider eventually took on the role of digital transformation partner in many projects related to manufacturing execution system (MES); AI for planning and connected bar.

With MES, FPT has enhanced the company's experience in delivering projects related to digital monitoring and controlling system, helping Carlsberg to optimise the manufacturing process and maximise production output.

Furthermore, according to Carlsberg, FPT was chosen to implement this project because of its proven technology capability and a strong global presence, especially in Asia.

"At FPT, we always strive to enhance and enrich our technology capability so as to offer more value-added service to our clients,” said Truong Gia Binh, chairman at FPT. “We have set the target of turning into the world-class DT service provider.”

“By becoming the global IT service provider of Carlsberg, we do embark the ambition and responsibility to help our client in their business modernisation and digitalisation, leading to high business efficiency as well as extraordinary customer experience, thus reaffirming Carlsberg's position as the top leading beer and beverage producer," Gia Binh added.

Carlsberg expects to roll out MES for 14 factories across Asia in the near future.

Furthermore, FPT plans on leveraging the company's expertise in artificial intelligence to help Carlsberg analyse consumers' behaviour, predict demand and plan for production.

The collaboration between FPT and Carlsberg in digital transformation was also expanded to the connected bar, which is considered as the ‘game changer’ of Carlsberg.

The connected bars, enabled by smart sensors, not only allow the brewery giant to assure their product quality but also monitor the consumption at the same time, leading to an effective supply management system.

The Vietnam-headquartered FPT has a global customer pool of more than 500, partnering with such organisations as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Siemens, IBM and GE Predix, with revenues approaching US$2 billion and 33,000 employees.
