Veritas Technologies has unveiled new ways to visualise, archive and recover data for G Suite users, following an alliance partnership with Google Cloud.
A specialist in multi-cloud data management, the vendor will provide data protection and governance capabilities to G Suite users.
“We are continuing to build on our partnership with Google Cloud by coupling Veritas’ advanced data management and protection expertise with Google Cloud’s extensive productivity and collaboration capabilities,” said Mike Palmer, executive vice president and chief product officer, Veritas.
According to Palmer, the partnership will offer additional support and extend users capabilities for data protection and governance within the Google Cloud environment.
Specifically, Veritas will provide G Suite users with additional cloud-to-cloud back-up capability through the company’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) back-up solution.
New ways to analyse file metadata and execute compliance-driven retention and eDiscovery workflows will also be provided through the vendor’s information map and enterprise vault offerings.
This announcement is timely, as more organisations turn to cloud infrastructure and applications to store analyse, and manage vast amounts of data in an efficient and scalable way.
In 2018, it is expected that SaaS will be the largest cloud computing category, capturing nearly two-thirds of all public cloud spending, according to findings from IDC research.
Data management is as important as ever, currently a hot topic with the general data protection regulation (GDPR) coming into effect May 25, 2018.
But it would be a mistake to see GDPR as purely a European initiative, as its impact will be felt by all organisations with European business operations, including those who are headquartered in Asia.
