Brian Higgins - Veritas channel sales leader for Asia Pacific and Japan
Veritas Technologies has named former VMware Southeast Asia partners and alliances senior director Brian Higgins as its new channel sales leader for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.
The new role will see Higgins lead the overall APJ channel strategy. He is tasked with growing the company’s ecosystem of partners in the region and helping partners differentiate in the market.
Before taking on the job, which he began in April, Higgins held the position of VMware’s hybrid cloud services and partners commercial business general manager for South Asia and Korea, a post he held since 2015.
Before that role, Higgins was VMware’s Southeast Asia senior director of partners and alliances for over two years, a job he took after being Lawson Software’s managing director in South Asia and channels director in APJ.
Higgins has also done time at Citrix Systems and Computer Associates.
For Veritas APJ senior vice president Chris Lin, Higgins’ professional history is expected to put him in good stead to lead the cloud data management solutions vendor’s business in the local region.
“The channel business has transformed extensively as partners are more focused than ever on providing solutions that empower customers to solve some of their most pressing business challenges,” Lin said.
“With Brian’s track record in building winning teams and in-depth understanding of the partner community and the diverse business cultures across the region, I am confident that he will continue to grow and create value for our partner network," he said.
Higgins’ appointment comes just weeks after Veritas revealed it had appointed former Nutanix A/NZ country manager Howard Fyffe as its new managing director across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), replacing long-time local lead Louis Tague who departrd to head up FireEye.
In January, Veritas named Greg Hughes as its new CEO, replacing Bill Coleman who will continue on the board as a trusted advisor and will also join The Carlyle Group as an operating executive.
The vendor revealed an “enriched” global partner program in April, aimed at helping the company keep pace with the evolving channel by increasing technical assets, deepening skills and enhancing opportunities for partners.
