IDG Communications, the world’s largest media, data and marketing services company, has launched a new publication for the technology channel across Southeast Asia.
Entitled Channel Asia, the new brand will reach resellers, distributors and vendors, leveraging more than 25 years of channel experience through ARN and Reseller News publications in Australia and New Zealand.
Channel Asia will inform the channel through digital content, industry events and awards, as well as social media, database services, research programs and lead generation.
“Resellers are an important audience for IDG and this launch is an example of our commitment to the technology channel,” said Kumaran Ramanathan, President of IDG Communications.
“We continue to see great traction in the market. Our track record of success and strength in the region provides a powerful platform to connect partner solutions across Southeast Asia.”
Delivered through local content and events, Channel Asia will provide a platform for the technology channel to come together at a national and regional level, starting with a Channel Asia Singapore launch.
Going forward, other country specific-publications will also be launched under the Channel Asia umbrella, including Channel Asia Malaysia, Channel Asia Indonesia and Channel Asia Philippines.
The Channel Asia team will comprise of Publisher Susan Searle; Editorial Director James Henderson and Commercial Director, Eduardo Silva.
A senior technology journalist has also been appointed and will be based in Singapore, effective late April.

“IDG’s channel publications help us to reiterate our commitment to the channel via compelling content of the highest quality.”
To kick-start operations across the region, Channel Asia will run The Launch Event on 10 May in Singapore, bringing the channel together in a collaborative and educational environment.
Specifically, The Launch Event will provide vendors, distributors and channel partners with the competitive advantage necessary to bring continued success in 2018 and beyond.
“StorageCraft welcomes the launch of Channel Asia, and we look forward to seeing IDG extend its quality channel journalism into Asia,” StorageCraft head of Asia Pacific, Marina Brook, added.
“Resellers, service providers, integrators, solution providers and distributors across the region will benefit from the creation of a timely and accurate news source, supported by comprehensive business background information.
“As we expand our own business across the region, we look forward to extending our mutually valuable relationship with IDG’s channel brands across Southeast Asia.”
As the voice of the channel, the Channel Asia brand is built on the core principles of journalism – objectivity, accuracy and integrity.
In addition, the publication will provide local stories and opinions on a daily basis, helping partners make informed decisions about technology and business.
“Channel Asia is a publication that will fill a real need in the Asia markets,” Westcon-Comstor executive vice president of Asia Pacific, Patrick Aronson, added.
“We have seen the value of channel focused publications in many regions in the world and there is no reason to think Asia would be any different.
"I’m confident that Channel Asia will be a success in Asia given the track record of the IDG channel team in Australia and New Zealand, alongside the market size, growth opportunities and first mover advantage in this region.”
